Softball Recap: East Henderson Eagles vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs
East Henderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
East Henderson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Courtney Collins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
East Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Smoky Mountain, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Henderson will venture away from home to square off against Asheville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Smoky Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Robbinsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Black Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
