Football Recap: Madison Prep Academy Skates Past Port Allen with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison Prep Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Port Allen Pelicans 69-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Madison Prep Academy's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Port Allen is ranked 215th).

Madison Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was J'On Profit out in front who rushed for 101 yards and one score. Profit showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards. Harlem Turner was another key back, rushing for 69 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Madison Prep Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Madison Prep Academy, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jakobe Sanders, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Madison Prep Academy pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Port Allen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Madison Prep Academy will challenge Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. Madison Prep Academy will be up against Collegiate's rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Port Allen, they will square off against St. Michael at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
