Baseball Recap: Alonso Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Alonso's offense. They fell just short of the Sumner Stingrays by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stingrays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Alonso got a good showing from Freddy Sanchez, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sanchez also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Ravens are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

Alonso has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Alonso will square off against Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumner, they will take on King at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
