Football Recap: Highland Skates Past Wiggins with Ease

The matchup between Highland and Wiggins on Friday hardly resembled the 14-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Huskies claimed a resounding 47-20 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Highland had a senior duo take command as Elijah Elder gained 185 total yards and a touchdown and Tyler Varra rushed for 79 yards and two scores. Varra didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended one pass.

Highland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 211 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Wiggins' loss came despite strong showings from Julien Towers and Michael Adamson. Towers rushed for 69 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while Adamson picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Highland now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wiggins, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will challenge Denver Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wiggins, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
