Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Coopersville

Coopersville won against Allendale on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Broncos beat the Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Ethan Umlor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Duthler, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Beau Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coopersville pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Allendale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, Coopersville and Allendale will both be playing Lowell the next time they take the field. The Broncos will host the Red Arrows at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
