Baseball Recap: Farmington Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Farmington had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 7-23 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Cass Tech Technicians 11-10. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 victory the Technicians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Anderson Axe made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Axe was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has become a key player for Farmington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-22 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Austin, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Vincent Pesci, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Farmington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Cass Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 23-8. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging 3.23 runs allowed.

On Cass Tech's side, Robert Ladner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Ladner has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelani Jabari, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Farmington beat Cass Tech by a score of 7-6 later that day.
