Basketball Game Preview: Mescalero Apache Chiefs vs. Texico Wolverines

The Mescalero Apache Chiefs will challenge the Texico Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mescalero Apache has three straight victories, Texico has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Mescalero Apache can't be too worried about heading out to take on Texico: they just beat Mesilla Valley Christian School at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Mescalero Apache walked away with a 53-41 win over Mesilla Valley Christian School on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 13, 2020, but that streak is no more.

Texico had taken Eunice down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. Texico lost to Eunice at home by a 47-33 margin.

Texico's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Mescalero Apache, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Mescalero Apache was taken down by Texico 61-33 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Mescalero Apache avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
