Football Recap: Hammond Morton Starts off Right with Win over Portage

Hammond Morton took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They really took it to the Portage Indians for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-7 victory. For the Governors, this counts as revenge for the 41-17 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Hammond Morton found their leader in freshman Amari Price, who threw for 160 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Ameer Daniels also helped out with an impressive 104 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond Morton is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Chesterton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Portage, they will take on Hobart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
