Football Recap: Chugiak Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Service

Chugiak faced Service in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs came up short against the Cougars, falling 24-0. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Chugiak didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Savannah Mason, Lexi Dockstader, and Isabel Sjostrand picked up one apiece. Mason is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: she's made at least five every time she's taken the field this season.

Chugiak's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Service, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coincidentally, Chugiak and Service will both be playing Colony the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
