Baseball Recap: Greenfield Has No Trouble Against Everett Alvarez

Greenfield had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Everett Alvarez on Wednesday. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Bruins have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Fabian Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Greenfield is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Gonzalez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Danny Nava was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Greenfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Everett Alvarez, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Greenfield beat the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Friday.
