Softball Recap: Make It 22 in a Row for Southern Nash

With a playoff win on the line, Southern Nash rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Swansboro Pirates as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matchups by six runs or more this season.

ANNA DICKINSON was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KAYLIE LOVE, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. SAVANNA BAINES was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Southern Nash always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansboro only posted an OBP of .250.

The win keeps Southern Nash at an undefeated 22-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Swansboro, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Southern Nash didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Orange on the 9th. Swansboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
