Basketball Recap: Killingly Takes a Loss

Killingly lost against Windham back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Killingly Redmen were outmatched by the Windham Whippets and fell 73-32. While losing is never fun, the Redmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Whippets are ranked fifth).

Windham's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelize Rivera, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. The match was Rivera's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Asihja Harris, who went 6-for-8 on her way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Killingly's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Windham, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Coming up, Killingly will face off against Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Windham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
