Basketball Recap: Guthrie Piles Up the Points Against Wilson

Guthrie waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Wilson Mustangs, posting an 84-10 victory. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while the Mustangs are ranked 1514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Guthrie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Wilson, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Guthrie is taking a road trip to challenge Petersburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Guthrie has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Wilson, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lorenzo on January 3, 2025.
