            Baseball Recap: Alleman Pioneers vs. Limestone Rockets        
        
		
        
        
            Alleman took a ten-run  loss the last time they faced off against Limestone, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pioneers skirted past the Rockets  5-4. While the Pioneers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-29), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Alleman got a great performance from  CJ Carruthers as he  pitched six innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   six  hits. Those  hits were  Carruthers' first of the season.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Jackson Smith, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Will Bowers, who  scored a  run and  stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Alleman's record now sits at 10-5. As for Limestone, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record  this season.
 Alleman will be playing at home against St. Bede  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Limestone, they will square off against Lincoln at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Railsplitters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27  runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
