Basketball Recap: Richland Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Richland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Lovejoy Leopards. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Richland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lauryn Williams went 10-for-21 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. Williams' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Richland's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Lovejoy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Richland has already played their next matchup, a 52-37 win against Gunter on the 24th. As for Lovejoy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-41 victory against Heritage on the 24th.
