Basketball Recap: Gonzales Piles Up the Points Against Schulenburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gonzales). They breezed past the Schulenburg Shorthorns to the tune of 69-38 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Apaches also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2019.

Jordyn Gonzales went supernova, shooting 40% from the field to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. Amaris Johnson was another key player, putting up 17 points and six rebounds.

Gonzales smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Gonzales is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Schulenburg fell to 4-1.

Coming up, Gonzales will face off against Boerne-Champion at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Schulenburg, they will take on Industrial at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
