Basketball Recap: Coral Gables Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jenae Mckinney and Kamaryia Dekle

Coral Gables was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Goleman Gators an easy 62-38 win. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Gators are ranked 178th).

Kamaryia Dekle and Jenae McKinney certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Dekle went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds, while McKinney went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

Jasmin Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Goleman, putting up 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Brown has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Tift, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Coral Gables' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Goleman, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Coral Gables wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-33 defeat against Killian on the 18th. As for Goleman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-36 win against Edison on the 18th.
