Baseball Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Colony Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 last Tuesday.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-2. As for The Colony, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newman Smith is set to take on their familiar foe Reedy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, The Colony will face off against rival Highland Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
