Basketball Recap: Orr Comes Up Short

Orr came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Lane Tech Champions 68-40. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Champions are ranked 99th).

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nia Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Carmani Sharkey was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Lane Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Bush led the charge by going 7 of 13 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lamperis, who posted ten points and three steals.

Orr's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Lane Tech, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.

Orr does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lane Tech, they will take on Whitney Young at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitney Young is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.3 points per game this season.
