Volleyball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. South Gate Rams

The Roosevelt Rough Riders are taking a road trip to challenge the South Gate Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

If Legacy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Roosevelt, they should've done a better job of containing Clarissa Caldera. The Rough Riders walked away with a 3-1 win over the Tigers on Monday with plenty of help from Caldera, who had 13 digs and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10 digs per game.

In the three sets Roosevelt was on fire: they won each by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-6, 25-9, 25-10.

Meanwhile, South Gate sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Huntington Park on Monday.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (100-93) South Gate actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 17-25, 11-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Roosevelt's record now sits at 18-8. As for South Gate, their record is now 19-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Roosevelt has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.5 aces per game. However, it's not like South Gate struggles in that department as they've been averaging 15.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
