Montville proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 31) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Portland Highlanders 46-44. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won three contests in a row.

Portland lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gracie DeRing, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 rebounds. Those nine points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morganne Pineda, who posted 13 points.

Montville's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Portland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Looking ahead, Montville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Portland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
