Football Recap: Jefferson Panthers vs. Joliet J Hawks        
        
		
             It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jefferson had no problem doing just that  on Saturday. They breezed by the Joliet J Hawks to the tune of  55-10. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  points they've scored all season.
 Jefferson's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Luke Oxarart, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Oxarart's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.  Tyzer Zody was another key signal caller, throwing for 228 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes.
 Jefferson was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 272  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joliet only rushed for 15.
 Jefferson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece.  Ben Werner also set a new season high mark in  rushing yards with 87.
 Jefferson's victory was  their fifth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.6 points per game. As for Joliet, their defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 6-3.
 Jefferson will venture away from home to  challenge Florence-Carlton  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Florence-Carlton will roll in looking for their  tenth straight  win, something Jefferson surely won't give up without a fight. Joliet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
