Football Game Preview: Pueblo Warriors vs. Cholla Chargers

Pueblo has gone 7-1 against Cholla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Warriors will take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Pueblo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Cholla likes a good challenge.

Pueblo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Rincon/University 55-6 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-6.

Roman Otero was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 40 yards and one score, and also threw for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (153.3).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pueblo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Pueblo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Anthony Sanchez and Armahn Corrales Flores. Corrales Flores got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 36-6, which was the final score in Cholla's tilt against Empire on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost four in a row.

The victory got Pueblo back to even at 3-3. As for Cholla, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Pueblo against Cholla when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-8 win. In that matchup, the Warriors amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
