            Softball Preview: Sabino Sabercats vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts        
        
		
        
        
            The Sabino Sabercats will face off against the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Sabino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4  runs per game  this season.
On Friday, Sabino was able to grind out a solid  win over Ironwood Ridge, taking the game  5-1.

 Avery Nielson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only two  hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Alyssa Aguirre was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April of 2024.  Mia Acosta was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile,  Mica Mountain unfortunately witnessed the end of their  four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Walden Grove by a score of  3-1.
 Sabino has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
 Sabino couldn't quite finish off Mica Mountain when the teams last played  back in March of 2024 and fell  3-1. Can the Sabercats avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
