Recap: Westwood Panthers vs. Central Cobras
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sebring, The Westwood Panthers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 20-13 win over Central. For Westwood, this counts as revenge for the 19-18 loss Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph "EJ" Weathers, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Another player making a difference was Braylon Vincent, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Although Central took the loss, they still got scores from Chauncey Williams and Anthony Lamattina.
Even if they lost, Central's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jamarion Davis and Devyn Ingle who racked up four sacks between them.
Westwood's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Westwood will look to defend their home field on Friday against Port St. Lucie at 7:00 p.m. Port St. Lucie is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Martin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
