Baseball Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

Greenwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Laurens, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Triston Lewis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Greenwood: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Jameson Pate was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Laurens, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-9.

Coming up, Greenwood will be playing at home against Woodmont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Laurens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
