Softball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

After flying high against Watson Chapel last Tuesday, Monticello came back down to earth. The Billies fell just short of the Star City Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The Billies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Monticello saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Libby Kingston, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Macey Stell was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Monticello's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7. As for Star City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Monticello is set to square off against their familiar foe Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Star City will challenge rival Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
