Baseball Recap: Mooresville Find Success

Mooresville's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Watauga Pioneers 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since April 19, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Connor Robertson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mooresville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Owen Hook also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Robertson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Mooresville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Mooresville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Watauga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Mooresville will head out to face off against R.J. Reynolds at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Watauga, they will welcome South Iredell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
