Basketball Game Preview: South View Tigers vs. Cape Fear Colts

The South View Tigers will square off against the Cape Fear Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, South View was able to grind out a solid victory over Gray's Creek, taking the game 70-58. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Bears are ranked 487th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Antrell Gilmore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Darin Word, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Cape Fear entered their tilt with Jack Britt on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Buccaneers with points to spare, taking the game 53-37.

Cape Fear pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for South View, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.

South View didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cape Fear when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 72-67 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cape Fear's Tyler Eavenson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
