Baseball Game Preview: Pearl River Central Blue Devils vs. Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets

The Pearl River Central Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pearl River Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against St. Patrick on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Fighting Irish.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Christian Home Educators Fellowship as Oak Forest Academy made off with a 12-2 victory. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tyler Mulkey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Jack Benoit was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Blayke Danna, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oak Forest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Home Educators Fellowship only posted an OBP of .261.

Pearl River Central's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Oak Forest Academy, their record is now 1-0.

Pearl River Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Oak Forest Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pearl River Central since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
