Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Cassidy Pough and Raniya Tyler Lead Calhoun County to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North, Calhoun County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 67-46 margin over the Horse Creek Academy Stallions. The contest marked the Saints' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Leading Calhoun County to victory were Raniya Tyler and Cassidy Pough. Tyler dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals, while Pough almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. Pough is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jamaryia McMichael, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Calhoun County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Calhoun County's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Horse Creek Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Calhoun County will head out on the road to square off against Allendale-Fairfax at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horse Creek Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Silver Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
