Softball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Mission Vista

The Carlsbad Lancers will take on Mission Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Carlsbad came up short against Sage Creek on Tuesday, falling 8-1.

Carlsbad saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Hemerick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Mission Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-2 to Rancho Buena Vista.

Mission Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Carlsbad, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Carlsbad came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission Vista when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
