Basketball Recap: Mendota Comes Up Short

Mendota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Erie-Prophetstown Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-19 back in January.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Erie-Prophetstown, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17.

Mendota and Erie-Prophetstown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Mendota (ranked 591st) will meet Kewanee (ranked 231st) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Erie-Prophetstown will square off against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 309 places (514 vs. 205).
