Basketball Recap: Page's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Page was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grimsley Whirlies. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Whirlies are ranked 114th).

When it comes to explaining why Page lost, don't look at Lola Vanore. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Vanore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season.

Shyla Simms continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grimsley, putting up 17 points along with seven boards and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Simms has scored at least a third of Grimsley's points. Another player making a difference was Sanaya Blount, who posted 12 points.

Page's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-9. As for Grimsley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Page didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-48 victory against Southeast Guilford on the 17th. Grimsley has also already played their next contest, a 50-43 win against Northern Guilford on the 17th.
