Preview: Holbrook Roadrunners vs. Tuba City Warriors
The Holbrook Roadrunners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tuba City Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Holbrook has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Holbrook got the win against Ganado by a conclusive 67-46.
Holbrook can attribute much of their success to Xavier Brown, who scored 16 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds, and Tyler Tapaha, who scored 26 points along with 9 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Tapaha has scored at least 25% of Holbrook's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joquin Belin, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Tuba City, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They took a 70-54 bruising from Hopi last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Tuba City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Hopi is ranked 47th).
Their wins bumped Holbrook to 4-3 and Ganado to 2-2.
Holbrook strolled past Tuba City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 66-49. Does Holbrook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tuba City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
