Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Raiders vs. White River Hornets

The Jefferson Raiders are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the White River Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson is looking for their season's first victory.

Jefferson came up short against Auburn Mountainview on Wednesday, falling 14-1.

Jefferson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesabella Arceo, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White River). They were the clear victors by a 28-4 margin over Kent-Meridian on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.

Elliotte Kajita made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Kajita was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Jenkins was a standout: she scored five runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That hit was her first of the season. Dakota Sprouse was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

White River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for White River, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
