Softball Game Preview: Delhi Bears vs. St. Frederick Warriors

Delhi is 0-7 against St. Frederick since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Delhi Bears will head out on the road to challenge the St. Frederick Warriors at 5:00 p.m.

Delhi is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 25-1 to Bastrop.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, St. Frederick made sure to put some runs up on the board against Glenbrook on Monday. St. Frederick's pitcher stepped up to hand Glenbrook a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Warriors have won eight matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Abigail Creighton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, St. Frederick got a massive performance out of Kyndall Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Hannah Gammage was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

St. Frederick lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 7-1 when they post two or more home runs.

St. Frederick is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Delhi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Delhi suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to St. Frederick when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Delhi avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
