Softball Preview: Chisum Mustangs vs. Commerce Tigers
The Chisum Mustangs will head out to square off against the Commerce Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chisum has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.
Chisum fell victim to Rains and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 18-0 to the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Commerce). They came out on top against Life Waxahachie by a score of 13-8 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Charley Lytle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaleigh Robrecht, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Elissa Parra was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
