Basketball Game Preview: Covington-Douglas Wildcats vs. Drummond Bulldogs

Covington-Douglas is 2-8 against Drummond since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Covington-Douglas Wildcats will host the Drummond Bulldogs at 12:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Covington-Douglas will head into Tuesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a 36-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Pond Creek-Hunter out 37-34.

Meanwhile, Drummond was able to grind out a solid win over Timberlake on Tuesday, taking the game 42-31. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Tigers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Drummond's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Covington-Douglas, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Covington-Douglas was dealt a bruising 68-36 loss at the hands of Drummond in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Covington-Douglas was down 36-14.
