Baseball Game Preview: Central Indians vs. Staley Falcons

Central is 0-5 against Staley since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Central 3.1, Staley 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Oak Park on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northmen.

Meanwhile, Staley faced Liberty North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 5-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on six straight.

Staley pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Central suffered a grim 19-8 defeat to Staley when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
