Softball Recap: Trenton's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

With a playoff win on the line, Trenton rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Liberty County Bulldogs. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Addison Allaire made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Trenton let Presley Akins and Emaleigh Philmon run wild. Akins went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Philmon got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Akins has posted since back in March. Charleigh Philmon was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

The victory (which was Trenton's ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty County, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-4.

As of now, neither Trenton nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
