Basketball Recap: Johnston Comes Up Short

Johnston was the 40-36 winner over Dowling Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Johnston Dragons fell just short of the Dowling Catholic Maroons by a score of 49-46 on Friday. The Dragons' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Dowling Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnston will host Valley at 7:45 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Dowling Catholic has already played their next game (against Ankeny), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
