Softball Recap: Wayne Gets the Win

Wayne won the last time they faced Newark and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Reds by a score of 14-9. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Wayne got a massive performance out of Sam Ray, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Ray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Scheid, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Newark, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Newark has already played their next matchup (against Whitman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wayne will be paying especially close attention to the Reds' contest: after the Reds face off against the Wildcats, they'll take on Wayne again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
