Basketball Game Preview: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars

North Edgecombe hasn't had much luck against SouthWest Edgecombe recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The North Edgecombe Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars at 4:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, North Edgecombe lost to Kinston at home by a 72-54 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Vikings are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, SouthWest Edgecombe waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed by the Rams to the tune of 63-34. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.

North Edgecombe's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

North Edgecombe was dealt a bruising 64-21 defeat at the hands of SouthWest Edgecombe in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point North Edgecombe was down 31-9.
