Basketball Recap: Hopewell Piles Up the Points Against Petersburg

Hopewell's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-35 victory over the Petersburg Crimson Wave. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 27 points or more this season.

Hopewell was led to victory by Erin Edmonds HV17 and April Winfield. Edmonds HV17 posted 23 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals, while Winfield went 8 for 18 en route to 24 points and six steals. The game was Winfield's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Dionne Morris was another key player, putting up five points and six steals.

With the win, Hopewell broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Petersburg, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Hopewell has already played their next contest, a 66-54 loss against Thomas Dale on the 16th. As for Petersburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-32 victory against Colonial Heights on the 16th.
