Preview: Clio Mustangs vs. Brandon Blackhawks
Clio has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will take on the Brandon Blackhawks at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Clio is ranked 99th, while Brandon is ranked 80th).
Clio scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 51-22 victory over Bendle at home. That looming 51-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Clio yet this season.
Meanwhile, even though Lapeer scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Brandon still came out on top. Brandon narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lapeer 64-61. The win was just what Brandon needed coming off of a 72-25 defeat in their prior match.
Riley Abney had a dynamite game for Brandon, dropping a double-double on 42 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Abney has scored at least 25% of Brandon's points. Ella Rizzo was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight assists and five steals.
The victory got Clio back to even at 2-2. As for Brandon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Clio came up short against Brandon in their previous meeting back in February, falling 59-51. Can Clio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
