Volleyball Recap: Mount Desert Island Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Washington Academy

Mount Desert Island faced Washington Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Trojans lost 3-0 to the Raiders. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-13.

Janiece Anderson paced Mount Desert Island's offense, picking up six kills. Anderson got some help from Lily Byer and her nine assists. Anderson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lanaia McDaniels, racking up two apiece.

Mount Desert Island now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Washington Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Desert Island will square off against Lake Region at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Washington Academy, they will challenge Ellsworth at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
