Soccer Game Preview: Animo Pat Brown vs. Burton

The Animo Pat Brown Gryphons will head out to square off against the Burton Scorpions at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Burton will be up against a hot Animo Pat Brown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Animo Pat Brown never let New Designs Watts onto the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. Given the Gryphons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Knights are ranked 1214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Animo Pat Brown's offense was hitting New Designs Watts from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Dennis Diaz led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Burton's and New Designs Watts' match on Thursday was close at halftime, but Burton turned on the heat in the second half with four goals. Burton was the clear victor by a 6-1 margin over New Designs Watts. The win was familiar territory for the Scorpions who have now won four games in a row.

Animo Pat Brown pushed their record up to 12-1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for Burton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-1-2 record this season.
