Basketball Recap: Daniel Rodriguez and Justin Suarez Secure Win for Deland

DeLand won the last time they faced Father Lopez and things went their way on Tuesday too. The DeLand Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 75-73 victory over the Father Lopez Green Wave.

DeLand was led to victory by Justin Suarez and Daniel Rodriguez. Suarez almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists, while Rodriguez went 6 of 10 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Carrico, who posted ten points.

Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Keller, who scored 25 points and six rebounds. Keller has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Powell, who had 23 points and six boards.

DeLand's record now sits at 9-5. As for Father Lopez, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-8.

DeLand has already played their next match, a 60-53 loss against Atlantic on the 9th. As for Father Lopez, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-58 win against Astronaut on the 8th.
