Basketball Recap: Lake County Baptist Comes Up Short

Lake County Baptist was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Cristo Rey St. Martin CRSM 64-3. The Lions lost against the CRSM in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 59-25 score last time.

It was another big night for Alexy Chapa, who almost dropped a triple-double on 39 points, nine rebounds, and 11 steals for Cristo Rey St. Martin. The contest was Chapa's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lilibeth Martinez, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 19 points and six steals.

Lake County Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cristo Rey St. Martin, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Lake County Baptist will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Berean Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. Cristo Rey St. Martin has already played their next game, a 47-30 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 25th.
